Weleda Echinacea/Thuja Comp. Drops are formulated to build immunity and help fight infections during times of illness — including colds, flu and other infections. The combination of active-strength echinacea and thuja in Weleda's traditional liquid preparation offers both immune stimulation (echinacea) and antiviral support (thuja) in a convenient drop format that can be taken at the first sign of illness.
Available from Pakuranga Pharmacy.
A: Echinacea is the most extensively researched immune herb — stimulating innate immune activity (macrophages, natural killer cells) and providing antiviral activity. Thuja (Thuja occidentalis) complements this with its own antiviral and immune-modulating properties from thujone and other active compounds. Together, the combination provides broader immune support than either herb alone — stimulating immune response while addressing viral activity through multiple pathways.
A: For best effect, start taking the drops at the very first sign of illness — sore throat, runny nose, fatigue, chills. Early intervention when the immune system first encounters infection provides the best chance of reducing the severity and duration of illness. Do not wait until you are fully unwell — the earlier the better with immune herbs.
A: Echinacea is typically recommended for acute use during illness episodes — take for the duration of illness (up to 2 weeks) then stop. Continuous long-term use of echinacea is generally not recommended as immune tolerance may develop. It is not typically taken as a daily preventive supplement but rather used acutely when illness strikes or when high exposure is expected.
A: Weleda Echinacea/Thuja Comp. drops contain alcohol as a preservative and carrier — not appropriate for young children. Check with our pharmacist about age-appropriate dosing and suitability. For children, alcohol-free echinacea preparations or other forms (tablets, glycerites) may be more appropriate. Always consult your pharmacist before giving herbal products to children.
