Use our BMI (Body Mass Index) calculator to get a quick estimate of whether your weight is in a healthy range for your height.
BMI is a screening tool — it doesn’t measure body fat directly, but it can help start a conversation about overall health.
Enter:
Height: cm (or metres)
Weight: kg
Your result will show:
Your BMI number
Your BMI category (Underweight / Healthy / Overweight / Obese)
BMI is calculated using your weight and height:
BMI = weight (kg) ÷ [height (m)]²
Example:
If you weigh 70 kg and your height is 1.75 m:
BMI = 70 ÷ (1.75 × 1.75) = 22.9
These ranges are commonly used for adults:
Underweight: Less than 18.5
Healthy range: 18.5 to 24.9
Overweight: 25.0 to 29.9
Obese: 30.0 or higher
Note: Some health guidelines use different cut-offs for certain ethnic groups and individual health situations.
BMI may be less accurate for:
Very muscular people (e.g., athletes)
Pregnant people
Older adults
Children and teenagers (they need age/sex-specific charts)
If your BMI is outside the healthy range — or you’re unsure what it means — we can help you understand your result and suggest next steps.
