The Welcare WDT505 Digital Thermometer Deluxe is a fast, accurate clinical thermometer for oral, rectal, or underarm temperature measurement. Its flexible tip makes it comfortable for all ages — particularly useful for young children who may be restless during measurement. A clear display and audio alert make readings easy to read and confirm.
For oral use, place the tip under the tongue and hold with lips closed. For underarm use, place in the armpit and hold the arm firmly against the body. For rectal use (infants), apply a small amount of water-based lubricant to the tip and insert gently. Hold until the beep sounds, then read the temperature on the display.
A temperature above 38°C (100.4°F) is generally considered a fever. For infants under 3 months, any fever requires immediate medical attention. For older children and adults, temperatures above 39°C or persistent fever should prompt medical consultation.
Rectal measurement is most accurate and closest to core body temperature. Oral measurement is reliable for cooperative children and adults. Underarm (axillary) measurement is least accurate and typically reads 0.5°C lower than oral — add 0.5°C if using this method.
Wipe the tip with isopropyl alcohol or a disinfectant wipe after each use. Do not immerse the thermometer in water. Store in the protective case provided.
The battery typically lasts for hundreds of measurements. Replace with a standard button cell battery (type as specified in the instructions) when the low battery indicator appears on the display.
