Waterpik Pik Pocket Tips are specially designed soft rubber tips for gentle, low-pressure delivery of therapeutic agents (such as antiseptic mouthwash, chlorhexidine, or saline) directly into periodontal pockets and furcations. Unlike standard water flosser tips that clean between teeth, Pik Pocket Tips are specifically engineered for subgingival (below the gumline) irrigation — making them an essential accessory for people with periodontal disease, deep pockets, implants, or post-surgical care.
Subgingival irrigation delivers fluid below the gumline — into the periodontal pocket (the space between tooth and gum). In periodontal disease, bacteria accumulate in these pockets and cause inflammation, bone loss, and disease progression. Irrigating with antiseptic or antimicrobial solutions helps reduce bacterial load in areas that brushing and standard flossing cannot reach.
Common solutions used with Pik Pocket Tips include diluted chlorhexidine gluconate (as recommended by your dentist), antibacterial mouthwash, salt water (saline), or diluted hydrogen peroxide. Always follow your periodontist's or dentist's guidance on which solution and concentration to use.
Pik Pocket Tips are compatible with most Waterpik water flosser models. Check the Waterpik compatibility guide for your specific model before purchasing to confirm. The standard tip connection fits most Waterpik countertop and cordless models.
Attach the tip to your Waterpik, fill the reservoir with your recommended solution, set the pressure to the lowest setting, and gently guide the tip along the gumline, pausing at each tooth. Angle the tip so it enters the pocket at a 45-degree angle. Never use at high pressure in periodontal pockets.
Replace every 3–6 months or when the rubber tip shows signs of wear, discolouration, or damage. Worn tips may not provide effective delivery and could harbour bacteria.
