Voltaren Rapid 12.5mg contains diclofenac potassium — a highly soluble form of diclofenac that dissolves and absorbs rapidly, providing faster onset of pain relief than standard diclofenac sodium formulations. Each small, easy-to-swallow tablet delivers targeted anti-inflammatory and analgesic action for a wide range of pain and fever conditions. Pharmacy Medicine (P Medicine). 20 tablets per pack.
Diclofenac potassium is the fast-absorbing salt form used in Voltaren Rapid — its superior water solubility means it dissolves quickly in the stomach and reaches peak plasma concentrations faster than the sodium form. Standard Voltaren tablets use diclofenac sodium, which has slower dissolution and absorption. Voltaren Rapid is chosen specifically when faster pain relief onset is needed.
Diclofenac potassium typically reaches peak plasma concentration within 30–60 minutes of oral dosing, with meaningful pain relief experienced within 30–45 minutes for many people. The exact onset depends on whether the stomach is empty or full — faster on an empty stomach, but taking with food reduces stomach upset risk.
Adults: 2 tablets (25mg diclofenac) up to 3 times daily. Do not exceed 75mg (6 tablets) in 24 hours. Take with food or milk to minimise stomach upset. For acute pain, some adults may take 3 tablets (37.5mg) initially if required. Do not take for more than 5 days without medical advice.
Yes. Diclofenac and paracetamol work through different mechanisms and can be safely taken together for enhanced pain relief. This combination is frequently used for dental pain, post-surgical pain, and moderate-to-severe acute pain. Do not combine Voltaren with other NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin) — only paracetamol can be combined safely.
Avoid if you: are allergic to aspirin or other NSAIDs; have a stomach ulcer or history of gastrointestinal bleeding; have severe kidney, liver, or heart failure; are in the third trimester of pregnancy; take blood thinners (warfarin, anticoagulants). Use with caution if you have asthma (some people are NSAID-sensitive). Consult your pharmacist about interactions with existing medications.
