Vermox Orange Tablets contain mebendazole 100mg — the gold standard treatment for threadworm (pinworm) infection. Mebendazole works by preventing the worm from absorbing glucose, causing it to become immobilised and die within days. The same dose works for all family members aged 2 and over, making it simple to treat the whole family at once — essential as threadworms spread easily within households. Tasty orange-flavoured chewable tablets.
Mebendazole blocks the uptake of glucose in the worm's gut cells, causing the worm to starve and become paralysed. The worms die and are naturally expelled from the body over the following days. It does not significantly affect the human body as it is poorly absorbed from the gut.
Yes. Threadworms spread extremely easily — eggs are microscopic and can be transferred via hands, bedding, towels, and surfaces. If one person in the household has threadworms, it is very likely others are infected (often without symptoms). Treating all household members at the same time is the most effective strategy.
Yes. A single dose kills worms present in the gut but not eggs in the environment or on the body. A second dose 2–3 weeks after the first is strongly recommended to treat any newly hatched worms and break the reinfection cycle. Strict hygiene measures (hand washing, short nails, daily showering) during this period are also important.
Vermox is suitable for children aged 2 years and over. It is not recommended for children under 2 or during pregnancy. Consult your pharmacist or doctor for guidance in these situations.
Itching and discomfort typically resolve within a few days as worms die. Complete clearance takes up to 2–3 weeks. Strict hygiene practices during this period help prevent reinfection.
