UroFem D-Mannose 1000mg provides a concentrated dose of D-mannose — a naturally occurring simple sugar found in fruits that has been clinically studied for its ability to support urinary tract health. D-mannose works by binding to E. coli bacteria in the urinary tract, preventing them from adhering to the bladder wall and facilitating their removal with urination. 50 convenient tablets — suitable for daily or acute-use protocols.
Most UTIs (approximately 80–90%) are caused by E. coli bacteria that express type 1 fimbriae — adhesive projections that bind to mannose receptors on the bladder wall. D-mannose saturates these fimbriae, binding to the bacteria before they can adhere to the bladder. The bacteria-D-mannose complex is then flushed out with urination, supporting the clearance of bacteria from the urinary tract without antibiotics.
D-Mannose can be used both for prevention of recurrent UTIs (daily maintenance dose) and at the first sign of UTI symptoms (higher acute dose for several days). For active UTI treatment, consult your GP — D-Mannose is not a substitute for antibiotics in confirmed infections requiring antibiotic therapy.
D-Mannose is absorbed quickly and reaches the urinary tract within 1–2 hours. For early-symptom use, many people notice improvement within 24–48 hours. For daily prevention, consistent use over weeks to months shows the most meaningful benefit in reducing UTI recurrence frequency.
Yes — D-Mannose is a naturally occurring sugar that is well tolerated for long-term daily use. Unlike antibiotics, it does not disrupt gut flora or carry antibiotic resistance concerns. People with diabetes should note that D-Mannose is a sugar and may affect blood glucose — consult your doctor if diabetic.
Yes — D-Mannose can be used as an adjunct alongside antibiotic treatment for an acute UTI, and is frequently used for prevention after completing antibiotic courses. It does not interfere with antibiotics. Always complete prescribed antibiotic courses as directed.
