Strepfen Honey Lemon Lozenges provide intensive, fast-acting sore throat relief using flurbiprofen — a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that directly targets the inflammation and pain at the throat surface. Unlike standard soothing lozenges that only temporarily coat the throat, Strepfen's flurbiprofen delivers localised anti-inflammatory action that reduces the swelling, redness, and pain of sore throats, often providing relief within 30 minutes. Pharmacy Medicine.
Most throat lozenges (menthol, honey, glycerin-based) provide temporary soothing and coating of the throat surface. Strepfen contains flurbiprofen — an NSAID (like ibuprofen) that actively reduces the inflammation causing the pain. This makes Strepfen genuinely anti-inflammatory rather than just soothing, providing more meaningful pain relief for inflamed, swollen throats.
Strepfen is most effective for inflamed, painful, swollen sore throats — particularly those associated with viral upper respiratory infection (the common cold, flu) or tonsillitis. It works best when the sore throat involves genuine inflammation rather than just dryness or irritation.
Adults and children 12+: 1 lozenge every 3–6 hours. Do not exceed 5 lozenges in 24 hours. Do not take for more than 3 days without consulting a doctor. Strepfen is not recommended for children under 12.
Do not combine Strepfen with other NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen) or aspirin unless directed by a doctor, as this increases NSAID-related side effects. Strepfen can be used alongside paracetamol for additional pain relief if needed.
NSAIDs can trigger asthma in aspirin-sensitive individuals and may aggravate stomach ulcers or gastritis. People with known NSAID sensitivity, asthma, peptic ulcer disease, kidney problems, or on anticoagulants should consult their pharmacist or doctor before using Strepfen.
