Scholl Callus Removal Pads use targeted medicated disc action to effectively remove calluses — areas of hard, thick skin that develop under the foot from pressure and friction. The medicated discs contain salicylic acid, which penetrates and softens the callused tissue for effective removal, while the cushioning pad provides immediate pain and pressure relief during treatment.
Available from Pakuranga Pharmacy.
A: The medicated disc contains salicylic acid — a keratolytic agent that softens and breaks down the excess keratin in callused skin. The disc is placed directly on the callused area and held in place by the adhesive cushion pad. The salicylic acid gradually penetrates the callus over 2–3 days, softening the tissue so it can be removed by filing or soaking.
A: Treatment time depends on callus thickness. Most calluses require 2–7 days of treatment with medicated disc replacement every 2 days as directed. After the callus has softened, soak the foot in warm water and gently file the area. Repeat if needed for thick, established calluses.
A: Salicylic acid callus treatments should not be used by people with diabetes without medical supervision. Diabetic patients have reduced sensation and healing capacity in the feet — salicylic acid can cause skin damage that may not be felt and could lead to serious complications. Diabetic patients should see a podiatrist for callus management. Ask our pharmacist for diabetic-safe callus care alternatives.
A: These pads are specifically designed for the feet. For hand and finger calluses from guitar playing, tools or manual work, seek a product specifically formulated for hand use. Do not apply to facial skin, around eyes, or on sensitive skin areas. Always read the label before use.
