SBM THC Urine Tests are rapid, one-step urine drug tests for the qualitative detection of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) — the primary psychoactive compound in marijuana/cannabis. Each test provides a clear positive or negative result within minutes from a urine sample, with no laboratory or equipment required. The 5-pack provides multiple tests for personal monitoring or family use. Suitable for workplace, personal, or sporting drug screening use.
The test uses an immunoassay lateral flow method — urine is applied to the test strip, and antibodies in the strip react with THC metabolites (primarily THC-COOH, the primary metabolite of cannabis) in the urine. A positive result (THC detected above the threshold) shows one line; a negative result (THC below threshold or absent) shows two lines. The threshold for most rapid THC urine tests is 50ng/mL — the standard workplace drug testing cut-off.
Detection windows vary considerably depending on frequency of use. Occasional users (once or twice): 3–4 days. Regular users (daily): 10–21 days. Heavy chronic users: up to 30 days or longer. THC metabolites are fat-soluble and accumulate in fatty tissue, releasing slowly — explaining the extended detection window in heavy users compared to other drugs.
Rapid immunoassay tests are highly sensitive screening tools but not confirmatory — they are designed to identify presumptive positive samples that would then be sent for laboratory GC-MS confirmation in formal workplace or legal contexts. For personal screening, the rapid test provides reliable guidance. False positives are rare but possible from certain medications (e.g. NSAIDs, PPIs). A positive result on a home test does not have the same standing as a confirmed laboratory result in legal proceedings.
Yes — using the same 50ng/mL threshold as standard NZ workplace drug tests, this test provides a reliable indication of whether you would likely pass a urine-based workplace screening. However, different employers and testing laboratories may use different thresholds or testing methods. If you have a positive result, it is advisable to abstain from cannabis use until retesting negative before any formal workplace test.
Two lines (control + test line) = NEGATIVE (THC not detected or below threshold). One line (control line only) = POSITIVE (THC detected above threshold). No lines = INVALID (test error — repeat with a new test). Even a faint second line counts as a negative result. Read the result at 5 minutes — do not interpret after 10 minutes.
