Four Sigmatic Protect Organic Chaga Elixir provides 1500mg of dual-extracted Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus) per serving — one of nature's most potent antioxidant and immune-supportive functional mushrooms. Each convenient single-serve sachet dissolves instantly in hot water for a pleasant, earthy-tasting caffeine-free drink. The dual-extraction process (hot water + alcohol) ensures both the water-soluble beta-glucans (immune-active polysaccharides) and alcohol-soluble triterpenes (anti-inflammatory and adaptogenic compounds) are fully extracted and bioavailable. Certified organic. 20 sachets.
Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a parasitic fungus that grows primarily on birch trees in cold climates. It is one of the most antioxidant-rich substances found in nature — with an ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) value significantly higher than common antioxidant foods like blueberries or acai. Chaga contains melanin (a potent antioxidant), beta-glucans (immune-modulating polysaccharides), betulinic acid (from birch bark, with anti-inflammatory properties), and a range of triterpenes with adaptogenic effects.
Different beneficial compounds in mushrooms are soluble in different solvents — beta-glucans require hot water extraction, while triterpenes require alcohol extraction. A dual-extracted product captures both compound classes; a hot-water-only extract misses the triterpenes. Four Sigmatic uses dual extraction to ensure the full spectrum of Chaga's bioactive compounds is present and bioavailable in every serving.
Chaga's beta-glucans bind to receptors on immune cells (particularly NK cells, macrophages, and dendritic cells), modulating and priming the immune system to respond more effectively to pathogens. Beta-glucans are 'biological response modifiers' — they don't simply stimulate but intelligently calibrate immune activity, which is why they are used in both immune deficiency and immune overactivity conditions.
Yes. Chaga is an adaptogen — a substance that can be used consistently long-term to support the body's resilience to physical and environmental stress. Unlike stimulant-based immune supplements, it is caffeine-free and suitable for daily year-round use, morning or evening. Many people use it as a coffee alternative or afternoon drink.
Empty one sachet into a cup, add 200–250ml of hot (not boiling) water, and stir until dissolved. The elixir has a mild, slightly earthy flavour that can be enjoyed plain or enhanced with a dash of plant milk. Can also be mixed into smoothies or added to other hot drinks.
