Check your body's iron reserves at home with a simple finger-prick blood test.
The Prima Iron FER Test measures ferritin, the protein your body uses to store iron, in a whole blood sample. Ferritin levels are one of the best indicators of how much iron you have in reserve, making this test a useful first check for people who suspect low iron.
Anyone wanting to check their body's iron reserves, including people feeling tired or run down, or those monitoring known low iron levels.
Specificity 100%, Sensitivity 85.2%, Accuracy 96.6%. The test flags ferritin below the 30 ng/mL cut-off.
This self-test is a screening tool only and does not replace professional medical diagnosis. Please discuss any result with your pharmacist or doctor.
Lab studies show 96.6% overall accuracy for detecting ferritin below the 30 ng/mL cut-off.
A positive (low) result means your ferritin is below 30 ng/mL and it's worth speaking to your doctor about your iron levels.
Read the result at exactly 5 minutes — results outside this window may not be reliable.
Yes, ferritin between roughly 27–29 ng/mL can sometimes give a similar reading to just below the cut-off, so borderline results are worth rechecking with a doctor.
