The Omron HVF127 is a clinically designed, easy-to-use TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) device specifically developed for back pain relief. Using low-frequency electrical pulses delivered through adhesive electrode pads, the HVF127 stimulates sensory nerve fibres to interrupt pain signals and promote the release of endorphins — providing drug-free pain relief for acute and chronic lower back pain. Comes with Omron's 2-year manufacturer's warranty when registered online.
TENS works through two key mechanisms: the Gate Control Theory (high-frequency TENS stimulates A-beta nerve fibres that "close the gate" on pain signals) and endorphin release (low-frequency TENS stimulates A-delta fibres to trigger natural endorphin and enkephalin production). Together these provide both immediate pain relief during use and a carry-over effect after the session.
TENS is safe and effective for muscular back pain, tension, and many chronic pain conditions. It should NOT be used over broken skin, near the heart (front of chest), on the head, neck, or carotid arteries, or by people with pacemakers, epilepsy, or during pregnancy. If you have a specific diagnosed condition, consult your physiotherapist or GP before starting TENS.
Typically 20–30 minutes per session, 2–3 times per day as needed. Do not exceed the recommended session duration. Some people use TENS as needed for flare-ups; others use it as part of a daily pain management routine.
For lower back pain, place the pads on either side of the spine (not directly on the spine) in the lower back area. The included instructions provide electrode placement guidance. Your physiotherapist can advise on optimal placement for your specific pain pattern.
Omron electrode pads typically last 20–30 uses before the adhesive weakens. Store the pads on the protective film between sessions. Replacement electrode pads are available separately.
