Frequently Asked Questions

How effective are condoms at preventing pregnancy?

When used correctly and consistently every time, condoms are 98% effective at preventing pregnancy. With typical use (accounting for human error), effectiveness is approximately 85–87%. For highest protection, use alongside another form of contraception such as the pill, IUD, or implant.

Do condoms protect against STIs?

Yes. Condoms are the only contraceptive method that also reduces the risk of sexually transmitted infections including HIV, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, and herpes. They do not completely eliminate STI risk, but significantly reduce transmission when used consistently and correctly.

What does "regular size" mean — how do I know if it fits?

Regular size condoms are designed to fit most men. A condom that fits correctly should unroll smoothly down the full length of the penis, feel snug but not uncomfortably tight, and should not slip or slide during use. If regular feels too tight or too loose, try smaller or larger sizes.

What if I have a latex allergy?

If you have a latex allergy, do not use latex condoms. Non-latex alternatives (polyisoprene, polyurethane) are available from pharmacies and provide similar protection without latex. Speak to your pharmacist or doctor about the best option.

How should I store condoms?

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Avoid carrying in a wallet for extended periods as body heat, pressure, and friction can degrade the latex. Always check the expiry date before use.
