Hydralyte 24 Sachets in Apple Blackcurrant flavour provides a 24-sachet supply of WHO-recommended oral rehydration formula to relieve symptoms of dehydration and help replace water and electrolytes lost due to vomiting, diarrhoea, heavy sweating, vigorous exercise, or occasional alcohol consumption. The pre-measured sachets dissolve instantly in water for a precisely formulated electrolyte drink. The 24-sachet pack provides excellent value for household supply, travel, and ongoing use.
Hydralyte follows the WHO-recommended oral rehydration salt (ORS) formula — a precise ratio of sodium, glucose, and water that maximises intestinal electrolyte absorption through the sodium-glucose co-transport mechanism. Sports drinks have much higher sugar concentrations and different sodium levels that are not optimised for rehydration from illness or severe fluid loss. Hydralyte is specifically formulated for effective rehydration from dehydration caused by vomiting, diarrhoea, and significant fluid losses — not just for exercise hydration support.
Plain water alone does not replace electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride) lost through vomiting, diarrhoea, and heavy sweating. When electrolytes are depleted alongside fluid loss, drinking water alone can further dilute remaining electrolytes, worsening hyponatraemia (low sodium). Hydralyte is particularly important when: vomiting or diarrhoea is ongoing (replacing both fluid and electrolytes), after prolonged heavy exercise, in hot weather with heavy sweating, for elderly people prone to dehydration complications, and for young children who dehydrate rapidly.
Dissolve one sachet in 200ml of water (approximately one standard cup). Stir or shake until fully dissolved. The solution should be used within 24 hours of preparation — refrigerate if not consumed immediately. Do not add extra powder or use less water — the precise dilution is important for the formula's effectiveness.
Yes — the formula is identical in both pack sizes. The 24-sachet pack provides better value for household supply. The 10-sachet pack is more appropriate for travel or occasional use.
Yes — Hydralyte is suitable for children and is widely recommended by paediatricians for childhood gastroenteritis (vomiting and diarrhoea). For infants under 12 months, seek GP or Plunket nurse guidance on appropriate rehydration management, as very young infants require careful fluid management. For children over 12 months, Hydralyte provides safe, effective oral rehydration.
