PRL Fem Balance FX features chaste tree fruit (Vitex agnus-castus) as its key ingredient — a premier women's support herb with centuries of traditional European use and substantial modern clinical evidence for supporting healthy menstrual cycles, reducing PMS symptoms, and promoting hormonal balance. The PRL (Premier Research Labs) formula uses a premium quality, whole-food processed chaste tree extract in a clean, practitioner-quality formulation.
Vitex agnus-castus acts primarily on the pituitary gland, influencing the release of luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). It increases LH relative to FSH, which promotes progesterone production in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. Many women with PMS, irregular cycles, or hormonal imbalance have relative oestrogen dominance or luteal phase deficiency — Vitex supports the progesterone side of the oestrogen-progesterone balance. It also inhibits prolactin secretion (relevant for breast tenderness and mastalgia).
Clinical studies show Vitex most effectively reduces: breast tenderness and mastalgia (its strongest evidence), irritability and mood changes, bloating, headaches, and irregular cycle length. It is most beneficial for women with genuine luteal phase insufficiency or PMS-related breast pain rather than all PMS presentations. Allow at least 3 menstrual cycles of consistent daily use to fully assess benefit.
Vitex requires 3 full menstrual cycles (approximately 3 months) of consistent daily use before meaningful improvements in cycle regularity and PMS severity are typically observed. Hormonal changes occur gradually with Vitex — patience and consistency are essential. Do not assess benefit after only 1–2 cycles.
No. Vitex influences hormonal signalling (LH, FSH, prolactin) and may potentially interfere with hormonal contraception efficacy. Do not use Vitex alongside hormonal contraceptives without specific guidance from your GP or gynaecologist. Vitex is more appropriate for women not using hormonal contraception.
Vitex has an excellent long-term safety profile based on centuries of use and modern clinical studies. It can be taken continuously during the reproductive years for ongoing menstrual and hormonal support. Avoid use during pregnancy (Vitex acts on hormonal pathways relevant to fertility and should be discontinued once pregnancy is confirmed).
