Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Frio Cooling Wallet work without refrigeration?

The Frio wallet contains special polymer crystals that absorb water when soaked and then slowly release it as water vapour through the outer fabric. This evaporative cooling process keeps the contents 18–26°C cooler than ambient temperature for 45 hours or more.

Does Frio work in hot and humid climates?

Yes. Frio wallets are specifically tested and approved for tropical and very hot conditions. The evaporative cooling mechanism functions across a wide range of ambient temperatures. In very high humidity, evaporation slows but the polymer crystals provide ongoing cooling through thermal mass.

How do I reactivate the Frio wallet?

Simply soak the Frio wallet in cold water for 5–10 minutes until the crystals are re-saturated (the wallet feels firm and swollen). Wipe off excess water and place your items inside. The wallet is ready to use immediately after soaking.

How long does a Frio wallet last?

Frio wallets are reusable indefinitely with proper care. The polymer crystals do not degrade and the wallet can be used repeatedly for years. Avoid machine washing — hand rinse only.
