Doctor's Best Biotin supports healthy hair, skin, and nails through biotin's essential role in keratin infrastructure — the structural protein matrix of hair, nails, and skin. Biotin (vitamin B7) is a water-soluble B vitamin that acts as a coenzyme in fatty acid synthesis and amino acid metabolism, both critical for the production of keratin. Available in two potencies: 5,000mcg (5mg) and 10,000mcg (10mg), allowing flexible dosing based on individual needs.*
Suggested Use: Take 1 capsule daily with a meal.
Biotin deficiency is associated with hair loss and brittle nails. For those deficient in biotin, supplementation can result in visible improvements in hair thickness, growth rate, and nail strength. However, if biotin levels are already sufficient, high-dose supplementation may have more modest effects. The benefits are most pronounced in those with underlying biotin insufficiency.*
Both potencies support hair, skin, and nail health. The 5,000mcg dose is suitable for general daily supplementation and maintenance. The 10,000mcg dose is a clinical-strength potency often recommended for individuals with brittle nails, hair thinning, or those seeking more intensive supplementation. Both are safe as biotin is water-soluble and excess is excreted through urine.*
Yes — this is important. High-dose biotin (particularly 5,000mcg and above) can interfere with many immunoassay blood tests including thyroid function tests, troponin (heart attack marker), and hormone panels, causing falsely high or falsely low results. Stop taking biotin at least 2–3 days before any blood test and inform your doctor or laboratory that you have been taking biotin.*
Yes. Biotin works well alongside collagen peptides, silica, zinc, and vitamin C for comprehensive hair and nail support. Check for biotin in any other supplements you are taking (particularly multivitamins and hair formulas) to avoid unintentionally high doses that could affect blood test results.*
