The Dri Cast Child Arm Size 3 is a full-arm waterproof cast cover designed for children with casts that extend from the hand to the upper bicep, just below the armpit (55cm length, 34cm circumference). It is suitable for the most extensive paediatric arm casts, including those used for shoulder girdle injuries and complex fractures that require full-arm immobilisation.
The seal sits high on the upper arm, providing reliable waterproof protection during showering and bathing. Available from Pakuranga Pharmacy.
A: Showering with a full arm cast requires planning. Keep the cast arm outside the direct water spray where possible and use the Dri Cast cover for added protection. A handheld showerhead is very helpful. Always have an adult assist โ full arm casts make balance and coordination more challenging for children.
A: Size 3 is designed for full-arm casts to the upper bicep. Shoulder spica casts (which encircle the torso and shoulder) require specialised waterproofing. Ask your orthopaedic team or our pharmacist about appropriate solutions for shoulder spica cast protection.
A: Yes โ Sizes 2 and 3 share the same circumference (34cm), but Size 3 is longer (55cm vs 40cm). If the upper arm circumference is larger, consider Size 4 which has a wider fit (42cm circumference). Measure carefully before purchasing.
A: Rinse after each use, allow to dry completely in a well-ventilated area, and store loosely rolled in a cool dry place. Avoid folding sharply or leaving in direct sunlight which can degrade the seal material.
