The Dri Cast Child Arm Size 1 is a waterproof cast cover designed to protect hand, wrist and lower arm casts in children during bathing and showering. Covering the average child arm to just below the elbow (30cm length, 32cm circumference), Size 1 is the smallest in the Dri Cast child arm range and is suited to younger or smaller-limbed children with lower arm fractures and injuries.
The watertight seal sits securely above the cast, allowing children to shower or bathe without the distress of a wet cast. Available from Pakuranga Pharmacy.
A: Roll the open end of the cover firmly down onto the forearm skin above the cast. The seal must sit on dry, bare skin โ no clothing underneath the seal point. Check the seal is snug before water exposure. For younger children with slender arms, ask our pharmacist for fitting advice.
A: For most young children, parental supervision and assistance is recommended when applying and removing the Dri Cast cover, and during showering. Older children may manage independently with practice once they understand the correct sealing technique.
A: Measure the length of the arm from the fingertips to where you want the seal to sit, and the circumference at the widest point. Size 1 suits arms up to 30cm length and 32cm circumference. Our pharmacy team can assist with sizing if you bring your child in.
A: If a cast becomes wet, contact your orthopaedic team or hospital immediately โ do not wait for it to dry on its own. A wet plaster cast can soften and fail, and skin complications can occur. Bring the Dri Cast cover to our pharmacy so we can check the seal integrity.
