Betadine Antiseptic Liquid is one of the world's most trusted antiseptics, used in hospitals and households alike. Containing povidone-iodine (PVP-I) as its active ingredient, Betadine provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria, viruses, fungi and spores, making it effective for the treatment and prevention of infection in minor cuts, abrasions, burns and skin wounds.
The 500ml bottle provides an extended supply suitable for first aid kits, clinical settings and regular household use. Available from Pakuranga Pharmacy.
A: Clean the wound area first, then apply Betadine Antiseptic Liquid undiluted to minor cuts, abrasions and burns using a cotton swab or gauze pad. Allow to dry or cover with a dressing. For larger wounds or more serious injuries, seek medical attention. Do not use inside body cavities or on deep puncture wounds without medical supervision.
A: Do not use Betadine if you have a known allergy to iodine or povidone-iodine. Symptoms of allergy include redness, rash, swelling or difficulty breathing. If you are unsure, consult your pharmacist or doctor before use. People with thyroid conditions should also seek medical advice before using iodine-containing products.
A: Yes — Betadine can be diluted 1:10 with clean water (1 part Betadine to 9 parts water) for wound irrigation and wound washing. The diluted solution retains antimicrobial activity while being gentler on delicate wound tissue. Always use clean, sterile water for wound care.
A: Yes — Betadine's brown/orange colour is caused by the iodine content and will temporarily stain skin. Staining on skin fades naturally as the product is absorbed or washed off. Betadine can permanently stain fabrics and surfaces — apply carefully and wash any accidental spills immediately with cold water.
