The Dri Cast Adult Leg Size 1 is a waterproof cast cover for adults with ankle, foot or lower leg casts. Covering the average adult leg to just below the knee (50cm length, 50cm circumference), it provides reliable waterproof protection during showering, allowing you to maintain normal hygiene routines throughout your cast-wearing period without risking cast damage.
The Dri Cast watertight seal sits securely below the knee on bare skin, keeping the entire cast area dry. Reusable and durable for the full treatment period. Available from Pakuranga Pharmacy.
A: Many people shower standing on one leg or using a shower chair with a lower leg cast. Use a non-slip bath mat and have something sturdy to hold onto. A shower chair or stool is strongly recommended for safety. The Dri Cast cover allows you to put your foot down in the shower without fear of cast damage.
A: Apply the cover to a dry leg before showering. Roll the open end of the cover down firmly onto the skin below the knee, ensuring no clothing is between the seal and your skin. Check the seal feels snug — the elastic should grip without being painfully tight. Test briefly before full water exposure.
A: Dri Cast covers are primarily designed for traditional plaster and fibreglass casts. For moon boots and walking boots, a dedicated waterproof boot cover may be more appropriate as the dimensions are different. Ask our pharmacy team for the best solution for your specific device.
A: Dri Cast covers are designed primarily for showering. For bathing, prolonged immersion poses a greater risk of water finding its way past the seal. If you need to bathe, keep the cast limb elevated outside the bath and minimise water exposure. Showering is strongly preferred for cast wearers.
