Aciea 100% Pure Magnesium Crystal Flakes provide pharmaceutical-grade magnesium chloride hexahydrate in a convenient flake form — ideal for therapeutic bath soaks and foot soaks. Magnesium chloride dissolves rapidly in warm water, providing highly bioavailable magnesium in a form readily absorbed through the skin during soaking. Magnesium is essential for over 300 enzymatic functions in the body — including muscle relaxation, nerve function, energy production, and stress regulation. Available in 75g and 341g sizes.
Epsom Salts are magnesium sulphate (MgSO₄) — magnesium bound to sulphate. Magnesium chloride flakes are MgCl₂ — magnesium bound to chloride. Magnesium chloride is generally considered more bioavailable than magnesium sulphate, with higher concentrations of elemental magnesium per gram. Magnesium chloride is also more soluble and provides a higher magnesium concentration at the same dissolved weight. Both are used therapeutically for transdermal magnesium soaking, but magnesium chloride is increasingly preferred by practitioners for therapeutic use.
For a bath soak: dissolve 2–4 cups (approximately 300–600g) in a warm bath and soak for 20 minutes. For a foot soak: dissolve 1/2 to 1 cup in a warm foot basin and soak for 20 minutes. For a concentrated magnesium spray (magnesium oil): dissolve equal parts flakes and water to create a topical spray. Regular 2–3 times weekly soaking is recommended for therapeutic benefit.
Transdermal magnesium absorption is documented — the skin is permeable to magnesium ions, and soaking in magnesium-rich water increases plasma and cellular magnesium levels measurably in studies. The debate is about the quantity absorbed and therapeutic significance versus oral supplementation. For people who cannot tolerate oral magnesium (which causes loose stools), transdermal soaking is an excellent well-tolerated alternative delivery method.
People most likely to benefit include: those with muscle cramps or tension, people with high stress levels (magnesium is depleted by stress hormones), athletes or active people with exercise-related soreness, people who cannot tolerate oral magnesium (GI sensitivity), those with sleep difficulties (magnesium supports sleep quality), and people with restless legs syndrome.
For therapeutic benefit, 2–3 times per week for 20 minutes each session is the recommended frequency. Daily soaking is also safe and may provide faster tissue magnesium replenishment. Consistency over weeks builds up tissue magnesium stores more effectively than sporadic use.
