NOW DIM 200 provides 200mg of diindolylmethane (DIM) with calcium D-glucarate per capsule — a combination designed to support healthy oestrogen metabolism and detoxification. DIM is a compound derived from cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage) that promotes the conversion of oestrogen to its beneficial 2-hydroxy metabolites, helping maintain a healthier oestrogen balance. Used widely by women for hormonal symptoms (PMS, perimenopause, PCOS) and by men for healthy testosterone support.
DIM (diindolylmethane) is a bioactive compound formed when you eat cruciferous vegetables. It acts as an aromatase modulator and influences the CYP1A1 enzyme pathway in the liver to promote the production of beneficial 2-hydroxy oestrogen metabolites over harmful 16-hydroxy forms. The result is a more favourable oestrogen balance, supporting hormonal symptoms and reducing excess oestrogen effects.
No. Men also benefit from DIM, as it helps control excess oestrogen (often from aromatisation of testosterone), which can affect libido, body composition, and testosterone levels. DIM is used by men seeking to support healthy testosterone-to-oestrogen ratios, particularly those doing strength training or with symptoms of excess oestrogen.
DIM may support hormonal balance in women with PMS and PCOS by modulating oestrogen metabolism. Some women notice improvements in PMS symptoms, breast tenderness, and mood with consistent DIM use. Results vary and it typically takes 2–3 months of daily use to see full effects.
Some people experience urine odour changes (similar to asparagus) due to the brassica-related compounds — this is harmless. Very high doses may cause headaches or gastrointestinal discomfort. Start with a lower dose if sensitive. DIM is generally well tolerated at 200mg daily.
Take DIM with food for best absorption and to minimise any potential stomach discomfort. DIM is fat-soluble and absorbs better when taken with a meal containing fat.
