The USL Sport Instant Cold Pack 12×15cm is a single-use chemical cold pack that activates instantly when the inner pouch is squeezed — providing immediate cold therapy for acute sports injuries without needing a freezer. The compact 12×15cm size is ideal for first aid kits, sideline bags and individual carry — a convenient single-pack option for athletes and coaches who need portable on-field cold therapy.
Available from Pakuranga Pharmacy.
A: The 12×15cm single unit is a smaller format than the larger packs in the box of 12 (which are typically a different size). The single 12×15cm pack is ideal for individual kit bags or as a cost-effective single replacement for a first aid kit. The box of 12 larger packs offers better value for team first aid kits and sideline supply.
A: The pack rapidly cools to approximately 2–3°C within 30 seconds of activation through the endothermic chemical reaction between ammonium nitrate and water. This is sufficient for therapeutic cold application per RICE protocol. Wrap in a thin cloth before applying to skin to prevent ice burn from direct contact.
A: Instant cold packs contain ammonium nitrate and are classified as hazardous materials in large quantities. Single packs in a first aid kit are generally permitted in checked baggage. Carry-on restrictions vary by airline. Check with your airline before travelling with sports first aid equipment including cold packs.
A: The pack maintains therapeutic cold temperatures for approximately 15–20 minutes after activation — sufficient for one complete ice application in the RICE protocol. Once the pack returns to room temperature it cannot be reactivated. For multiple applications during treatment, use additional cold packs or transfer to a reusable gel pack system.
