Panadol Extra with Optizorb contains 500mg paracetamol plus 65mg caffeine — a clinically proven combination that delivers more effective pain relief than paracetamol alone. The Optizorb formulation is specifically engineered to disintegrate and absorb faster than standard paracetamol tablets, providing quicker onset of relief for headaches, migraines, toothache, period pain, and muscular aches.
Clinical research shows that adding 65mg caffeine to paracetamol increases its analgesic (pain-relieving) effectiveness by approximately 40%. Caffeine also helps constrict blood vessels, which is particularly beneficial for tension headaches and migraines. The caffeine dose is similar to one small cup of coffee.
Yes. The addition of caffeine makes Panadol Extra more effective than standard Panadol (paracetamol only) for the same dose of paracetamol. The Optizorb formulation also absorbs faster for quicker onset.
If you are sensitive to caffeine, consult your pharmacist before use. The 65mg per tablet may cause restlessness or interfere with sleep if taken late in the day. For caffeine-free pain relief, use standard Panadol Optizorb caplets instead.
Adults and children 12+: take 1–2 caplets every 4–6 hours as needed, not exceeding 8 caplets (4 doses) in 24 hours. Do not take more frequently than directed. If pain persists beyond 3 days, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not take alongside other paracetamol-containing products. Avoid combining with other caffeine sources (coffee, energy drinks) as this increases total caffeine intake. Consult your pharmacist if you take blood thinners or other regular medications.
