USL Sport Adhesive Tape Spray is a New Zealand-developed pre-tape adherent spray formulated by GripTec in consultation with leading New Zealand physiotherapists. Applying the spray to skin before rigid tape or EAB significantly increases adhesion — particularly important in wet, sweaty conditions on the sports field where tape adhesion is critical for maintaining effective joint support throughout play.
400ml aerosol can for extended clinic and sideline supply. Available from Pakuranga Pharmacy.
A: Adhesive tape spray is particularly useful in hot and humid conditions where sweat reduces tape adhesion, for athletes who have naturally oily skin that makes tape adherence difficult, when taping areas prone to moisture (e.g. feet, hands), or when tape needs to stay in place for extended periods during competition. It is less necessary in dry, cool conditions or for short-duration applications.
A: Hold the can 15–20cm from the skin and spray an even layer over the area to be taped. Allow 15–30 seconds for the spray to become tacky (slightly sticky) before applying tape. Do not apply tape while the spray is still wet. After taping, allow a further 30 seconds for maximum adhesion before the athlete returns to activity.
A: Yes — adhesive spray can be used under kinesiology tape to improve adhesion, particularly for areas where K-tape tends to lift (e.g. behind the knee, around the shoulder, on the low back). However, be aware that improved adhesion may also make removal more uncomfortable. Use sparingly under K-tape compared to rigid tape applications.
A: The spray is formulated for use on intact skin. Avoid spraying on broken skin, open wounds or very sensitive or irritated skin. If redness, rash or skin reaction occurs, discontinue use and consult a pharmacist or doctor. Always allow the spray to dry before applying tape to prevent skin entrapment.
